NDA Team

Divisions still to come as the season hasn't ended yet.
With the slick conditions and what not going on around us, Marcia has decreed that you please notify your locations if you won’t be playing your match tonight. As always work with the other team to reschedule all matches that need to be played.
I have to tell you, when I first heard that Boston’s had joined the NDA league, I was a little worried. Keep in mind, I had spent a few nights after work in Boston’s bar playing pool or one of the video games in the place. I wondered to myself, how could such a small area support darts, none the less Team darts. Surely we would be sitting on top of one another and fighting our way to the board with the bar regulars standing around watching one of the many games on TV.
I was very wrong…
Toni from Half Time Drinks has done probably the best job of working with her sponsor on what she’s looking for on her dart night that I have seen. Boston’s is well lit, with plenty of room. In fact, instead of feeling like you’re playing in a cramped bar and burning up from all the body heat being given off, it’s the opposite. The feel is more of playing in a friend’s game room. Leather couches and coffee tables help keep things comfortable and there’s a couple regular bar sitting spots so every one has plenty of room. There’s 2 TVs in the playing area that may be the only down side to the whole experience for a weaker dart player that gets distracted easily. It’s not loud, so there’s no need to yell to your teammate. Every one has plenty of room, so you’re far from my fear of standing on each other’s toes through out the whole match. The bar is right there, so the drinks can pour as quickly as you wish, if so desired. I did witness the team pitcher for the Half Time Drinks, it was huge and with a self sealed ice chamber to keep the bubbly nice and cool. The only catch is the actual pour, saw lots hit the ground. Another huge up side, you’re playing at a freaking restaurant man! Grab a menu and order up what ever. For those of us that aren’t huge drinkers, there are plenty of drinks and lots of food options. The staff is friendly and as a normal restaurant, scuttle about in normal fashion. No worries of a person that’s had too much disrupting your games here as really, you’re kind of in your own little world.
I’d like to welcome Boston’s to the NDA dart world. It’s awesome playing there. Thanks Toni for bringing them into our world. Boston’s, thanks for making the darting experience a great time and making arrangements to have us there. Playing there made me remember why I play to begin with. Thank you...
So at the NDA general membership meeting that was held 9/13, the famous line was uttered, “Go with the same board”. So here are the results:
President – Hallie McGinnis
Vice President – Angela Lewis (hasn’t played since 2006)
Sectary – Bobbi Wheeler (husband and wife on the board that’s 1/3 the vote)
Friday Rep – Greg Wheeler (husband and wife on the board that’s 1/3 the vote)
Thursday Rep – Dirk Inga
Woman’s Rep – Nichelle Begich-Mauk
In my opinion there are a few things the board needs to tackle. The Reps need to know about games not played and why / when they will be played. The bars, vendalaska and us as players loose too much money from forfeits or matches never being played. With Reps that are supposed to taking care of those nights, it should be easy to get a handle on things. There should be a penalty for forfeiting. Paying both teams fees, not being able to play in the play offs, something needs to be inline to make a forfeit not look so good and easy. Where are the playoffs going to be played at? It’s better for them to start looking now or it will be another, in my opinion BORING playoff at bars strung out across Anchorage. With the NDA taking action against operators, what’s the board going to do about stopping the cheaters that put the whole state of Alaska at risk. Making sure the bars pay their fees within the first 2-3 weeks of the season. Makes the players responsible to the bar and hopefully the bar would make sure their players are playing. The checks and balances that should be in place haven’t been what they should have been in the past. With this board 3 years running (I may be wrong, it’s possible 4-5) I hope now they get their hands around things and fix some of the issues, or at least address them.
Well any complaints or issues, we as NDA players have the same people to complain / address things too. Vendalaska has very little to do with the way the league is ran, it's the board that's been re-elected over and over again. Complain to them...
