Former Alaska resident Eleanor S. Holdsworth, 79, died July 13, 2008, at Life Care Center in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

A small ceremony with family and friends was held in her honor July 17 at her daughter's home in Priest River, Idaho.

Eleanor Holdsworth was born Jan. 31, 1929, in Cedarhurst, N.Y.

Eleanor moved to Alaska with her husband, David M. Holdsworth, in 1972.

Eleanor was an avid dart player for over 30 years while she lived in Anchorage. She played darts with her children in dart leagues and won several trips to play in dart tournaments all over the country, including Las Vegas for the World Championships. She was known in the dart community and to many friends simply as "Mom."
She left Alaska in 2005.

"Eleanor was a cooking connoisseur; she was famously known to everyone for her scrumptious, savory meatballs, as well as her propensity for making any recipe ever a delicious gourmet masterpiece," her family recalled. "She loved to cook and her dishes were always a big hit with everyone.

"Eleanor was a strong, sassy woman of great influence to others; she touched the lives of many and will be missed dearly by all."
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, David in 1992.

She is survived and will be greatly missed by her brother, Rudy Paolucci and his children of Marietta, Ga.; her daughter, Deborah Gribbin of Wasilla; son, William Welch of Priest River; daughter, Sharon Welch of Wasilla; daughter and son-in-law, Jeri and Brian King of Priest River; step-daughter and son-in-law, Remy and Chris Moore of Wasilla; step-son, Jeffrey Holdsworth of Bellevue, Wash.; grandchildren, Courtney Balazs, William Gribbin and Jennifer Fast, all of Anchorage, Sara Jones and Jessica Jones, both of Coeur d'Alene, Karsen Welch King, Karlynn Welch King, William Welch King and Kendyl Welch King, all of Priest River; and two great-grandchildren.
