If there was ever a month for darts it’s February. Here’s more tournament available to the players than ever before. It will be interesting to see if the quantity of events going on in this month affects the number of people coming out.
Alaska State Open Feb 8-10 will be held at The “O”. In the past this event used to be huge, I’m hoping to see it come to life again under the MSDA banner. CIDC is also involved, organizing the youth / adult shoot. MSDA is also using this event as a donation push to America Diabetes Association, 1.00 from each entry will go towards this organization.
End of the Road Classic Feb 15-17 will be happening again in Homer. The first one was a good success and lots of fun. I’m sure this event will be no different.
NDA Team / Doubles play offs Feb 23-24. Every year like clock work this takes place at this time. The teams have competed since Oct. its time for them to compete for the local money prize. This is not an open event, you must have played in the NDA league to qualify.
Sister City Classic Feb 22-24 is held in Juneau. I’ve been told that it’s a blast. I’m sure that the event will please those that attend.
4th Annual Cooper Landing Classic Feb 29-Mar 2 in Cooper Landing. This event has been great in the past. No where to go, but to hang out with the good people that shoot darts in the area. The food at the grill there is great and the hospitality of the staff is wonderful. If you've never done a tournament outside of Anchorage this is the one for you.
Now I know that’s cramming a lot of tournaments into one month, hell I could see how a person may go cross eyed just trying to keep track of them all. The organizers of these events are counting on our ability as darters to hit all of them of course. No I’m being a smart ass, but they are looking for as much participation as possible from every one. I can speak for myself in saying I wish I could be at each and every one, but with so much in such little time, I’m going have to pick and choose my events.
See you all on the throw line.
