The Downtown League has started its winter league with eight teams this year, doubling it size from last year. We have teams from Hideaway, Buckaroo, Club Oasis, Carpentiers, Pioneer and the Cabin Tavern.
If the first night is any indication, most teams are closely matched as far as player strength goes, so this should be an interesting season. Of course my money is on the Cabin Tavern to win it all for a second year in a row.
Highlights:
Well let’s start with the Cabin Tavern, they (we) lost. So much for my pick. The Carpentiers played solid darts all night, normally hitting the outs in less than 6 darts. The Carp’s beat the Cabin 10-9.
Next up, the newly formed Hideaway C team. Although there was no high darts reported from either team, this was another close match, with the Hideaway C beating Pioneer 11-8.
Staying with the Hideaway, Hideaway A – Club Oasis match had some of the highest number of big scores reported for the week, with four people shooting over 120. Hideaway A ended up on top with a score of 13 – 6.
The big winner of the night was Buckaroo, beating Hideaway B, 15 – 4. This gives the Buck’s first place for the first week. It will be interesting to see how they fair against the Carpentiers next week.
High Scores – This Week:
Over 120: Al (Hideaway B) – 143, Mike (Hideaway A) – 140, Meryle (Club Oasis) – 135, Keith (Buckaroo) – 133, Ty (Hideaway A) – 126, Kim (Club Oasis) – 121 and Don (Carpentiers) – 121.
D-On’s Over 100: Helga (Cabin Tavern) - 110
Out’s Over 100: None
League High Scores – Year to Date:
Over 120: Al (Hideaway B) – 143
D-On’s Over 100: Helga (Cabin Tavern) - 110
Out’s Over 100: None
